Apple Health

It writes to Health. It reads nothing.

Turn it on and what you log in Foodia shows up in the Health app alongside the rest of your data. In the other direction, nothing happens: Foodia never looks at your Health data.

Write to Health
Foodia writes:
  • Calories
  • Protein
  • Carbs
  • Fat
  • Water
It never reads your Health data.

One direction, deliberately

Plenty of apps ask for full Health access “to improve your experience” and end up reading your heart rate, your steps or your sleep. Foodia asks for write permission on five things, and that permission is all it needs to work.

Turning it on and off

It's off until you switch it on, and it can be switched off from outside the app whenever you want.

Exactly what it writes

Five kinds of data, the ones you log yourself. Nothing else leaves Foodia for Health, and what does get written stays on your device: it never comes back to our servers or goes to third parties.

  • Calories from what you log.
  • Protein, carbs and fat.
  • Water.
  • Nothing else: not your weight, not your measurements, not your photos.

What we never do

The Health permission is among the most sensitive iOS grants, so it's worth stating plainly where the line is.

  • We never read your Health data: not steps, not sleep, not heart rate, not weight.
  • We never use Health data for advertising, and never share it with anyone.
  • What we write there is never sent to our servers.
  • Your weight and measurements stay inside Foodia and don't go to Health.
